The full demo route: Paris Streets, the sewers, every Mirror of Life, the three-key door and the The Fallen gate, in verified order.
Castlevania Belmont's Curse Demo Walkthrough: Paris Streets to The Fallen
The Belmont's Curse demo is one continuous chapter, not a set of disconnected rooms: the burning Streets of Paris, a drop into the Paris sewers, and exactly one boss fight — The Fallen — at the sealed gate into the Catacombs. Kill it and the demo is over. There is no second area, no credits and no ending; the build simply stops at a door you cannot open yet.
This route is based on the demo that went live on October 1, 2026, checked against the October 5, 2026 build. A focused run lands around 30 to 45 minutes.

Medusa, in this official Steam screenshot, is a full-game boss. She is not in the demo; no stage below involves her.

Stage 1: Streets of Paris and the Barrel Lever
Rose Belmont starts in the streets of 1499 Paris with the Longsword, the balanced blade. Konami's hands-on notes that a backstep into an immediate attack lands extra damage.
Push right through the burning street and break the destructible walls you pass. Playthrough footage shows experience statues along the route; they are the only level-up source outside combat, and the ones above the early street path are easy to walk past. The same footage shows a food pickup in a breakable wall on the boss approach that fills your health to maximum.
When the street route dead-ends, an in-game clue sets up the rest of the chapter: the monster hunts for souls, and the lever near the barrels opens the way down.
Mirrors of Life are the demo's checkpoints. Touching one saves your progress, heals you completely and refills your flasks, but roaming enemies in the area respawn. Re-activate one after every fight rather than hoarding flasks.
Stage 2: Down Into the Sewers
The sewers are the demo's main body: drain shafts, tight corridors, zombie groups and most of the breakable secret walls. Platform up from the first drain instead of dropping straight down — there is an experience statue above the entry that a straight-line run misses.
The route is short but not linear. Most dead ends are a wall you can break or a ledge you cannot yet reach. Those ledges are the routes the whip opens after the boss.
Stage 3: Sewer Reservoir, the Optional Cestus Route
The room immediately after the first Mirror of Life save point is the Sewer Reservoir, which holds the demo's hidden weapon. You cannot reach it on your first pass. The whip is the gate.
Once you have it, whip up to the upper levels until you are standing on the grate platform in the middle of the huge staircase in the background. Whip straight up above you to reveal a secret Anchor, hook it, and climb into the chest room. A congratulatory developer message fires on pickup, confirming you got it right.
The Cestus are short-range gauntlets with fast combos and a damage bonus that stacks the longer a chain lands — Rose glows as the combo builds. Attacking with the Cestus right after latching onto an enemy with the whip throws a heavy Uppercut. Rock Paper Shotgun's Cestus guide is the clearest published version of this route.
You can finish the demo's main route without ever entering the reservoir. The whip is not optional though — it opens every post-boss route in stage 7.
Stage 4: The Large Gate and The Fallen
The sewers funnel into a large gate, and The Fallen waits in the arena in front of it. This is the demo's only boss fight, and the wall most players hit. It leaps around the arena, throws a boomerang cross at range, swings across the room on its whip, then shifts phase and flies on that whip.
Hold mid-range and keep moving, dash under or around the cross, and wait out the whip swing before closing in. Landing hits during a swing staggers it. Move-by-move timings are on How to Beat The Fallen in Belmont's Curse Demo.
Save at the Mirror of Life before the door, and spend your flasks on the fight.
Stage 5: What the Boss Drops, and Where the Demo Stops
Three things come out of The Fallen.
The Holy Cross Arcana. The projectile it used against you becomes yours, sealed into Rose's tarot deck as a spell. Konami's PlayStation Blog uses the Fallen as the example of the series habit of handing you the boss's own move once you have tamed it.
The whip. Konami calls it the Arcana Whip; most coverage writes Arcane Whip. Same tool either way — it latches onto golden and purple Anchors for swinging and onto enemies, pulling you through gaps or into an attack. Details on the Arcane Whip traversal page.
One of three keys. The arena also holds a door locked with three separate keys. This Fallen's key is one of them.
Official source: PlayStation Blog hands-on report — defeated bosses are merged into Rose's tarot deck as Arcana, each with up to three Works of Mercy tasks that unlock a Blessing and then a Gift.
That three-key door is the demo's wall, not a puzzle you can solve inside the build. Rose says so outright after the fight: two more keys are needed, and two other guardians hold them. The demo ends there — no Catacombs, no second boss, no ending cutscene.
With the whip you can still backtrack, open shortcuts, collect out-of-reach statues, and take the reservoir detour if you skipped it.
| After the boss | In the demo? |
|---|---|
| Sewer shortcuts and backtracking | Yes |
| The Cestus reservoir detour | Yes, if not already taken |
| Remaining experience statues | Yes |
| The Catacombs and its two guardians | No — not in the demo |
| Anything past the Catacombs | No — unannounced as of October 5, 2026 |
FAQ
Where exactly does the Belmont's Curse demo end? At the sealed gate into the Parisian Catacombs, right after The Fallen fight. There is no ending sequence — it does not resolve the story and does not show credits.
Do I have to beat The Fallen to finish the demo? Yes. The whip and the first key both come from that fight, and everything worth returning for sits behind whip traversal.
Can I reach the Cestus before beating The Fallen? No. The reservoir chest needs the whip, and the whip comes from that boss.
How many Mirror of Life checkpoints are in the demo? Konami has published no checkpoint count and no map, so treat any specific number as unverified. What the demo confirms is what a Mirror does: it saves, fully heals, refills flasks and sets your respawn point.
How long does the demo take? Roughly 30 to 45 minutes, measured against the October 5, 2026 build. Published estimates range from about 15 to 45 minutes depending on how much of the sewers you clear..
Will my demo progress carry into the full game? Konami says yes, subject to five conditions — same platform, same account, keeping the demo save, updating the full game first. The rules and the mistakes that silently wipe a save are on the demo save transfer page.
Is this a roguelike? No. Konami states directly that Belmont's Curse is 2D action-exploration and not a roguelike or roguelite. See Is Belmont's Curse a Metroidvania or Roguelike?.
